Moxibustion is a technique used in traditional Chinese medicine in which a stick or cone of burning Mugwort , Artemesia vulgaris, is placed or held over an area or acupuncture point on the body. The purpose is to stimulate and strengthen the blood and the life energy, or qi, of the body through heat.
Moxibustion is often used for people who have a cold or stagnant condition and can be used to promote circulation. It is especially useful in treating muscular skeletal trouble as well as more internal conditions such as menstrual and digestive imbalances.
